"Truth seeker"
This photograph “ Truth Seeker “ immerses the viewer by putting them into a train of thought, making them wonder what is going through the person's head. The image shows a wide variety of different emotions. This is due to the model facing away from the camera this creates a sense of mystery as the figure overall gives off an empty expression making it difficult to understand how they are feeling. The model has his hands behind his back suggesting that they are lost in their thoughts. To capture this moment I used a fast shutter speed, low iso as well as a large aperture. I decided to do it with a fast shutter speed as this would prevent motion blur if the subject moved and reduce camera shake. I chose to go for a large aperture as this could create a limited depth of field which helped to keep centre the attention on the subject. A low iso was used as this photograph was taken during mid-day with a large aperture meaning this was the best choice to prevent overexposure as well as keep the noise to a minimum. This image is compositionally strong as it includes good use of compositional techniques and visual elements. The compositional techniques you can wear within this image are leading lines, negative space and the rule of thirds. Leading lines can be seen along the way within the background as well as the elevated platform that the subject is on top of. This technique helps the viewer to find the focal point within the image. Negative space within the photograph is the foreground and sky collaborate to eliminate the distractions from the point of interest which helps the viewer establish where the focal point of the image is. The subject is placed to the left of the image making use of the rule of thirds technique. Using the rule of thirds allows the viewer to interact with the photograph bringing their attention to that third of the image and are less likely to explore the whole image. Now talking about the visual elements within this image you can see the dividing line between the back and background of the images as the sky is soft and silky whereas the foreground is rough and scratchy. The silkiness of the sky within the image leaves the viewer feeling relaxed and calm. The scratchiness of the foreground creates balance within the image.
