Appleby (Lincs) Switch Panel 18th June 2012
Like the box diagram that used to be here, much of the panel at Appleby SB is taken up by indications for the east end of Scunthorpe PSB's area.
The method of signalling at Appleby was the same in 2012 as it was last time I visited in 2003, with AB being worked to Elsham SB (left) and TCB to Scunthorpe PSB (right).
Train descriptions between Appleby SB and Scunthorpe PSB were transmitted and received by the VDU equipment on top of the panel. The block instruments for working to Elsham SB were incorporated into the left hand side of the panel.
Note that although the buttons for operating bells to both Elsham SB and Scunthorpe PSB are part of the panel, unusually the bells themselves sit on top of the panel and are the ones that used to be on the block shelf here before the frame was removed.
Appleby SB closed on Christmas Eve 2015 with control transferred to the North Lincs Workstation at York ROC, photos of which can be found later in this album.
