Right up my alley
When my family moved to Downers in 1958 this was an alley from a parking behind a very small Jewel Foods store that occupied the space where Ballydoyle's is, and if I remember right, another grocery to the right. Since then the Jewel was completely demolished, the grocery to the right seriously remodeled, and a multillevel parking garage was built beind everything rendering this scene completely alien to my young eyes. The only thing that remains the same is that the alley is now a public way for pedestrians. Downers Grove IL / Main St
