Tracking West
Is That a Dash 9?
After a day on the mountain, me and some others were headed down the hill when we had gotten word from one of our other friends that MNPFR was getting ready to depart Roseville with a fresh C44ACM on point. This variant of the ACM is part of UP’s recent dash 9 rebuild program. Some may notice the odd setup of low ditchlights and high number boards, this is the case as the former CNW dash 9 had its cab replaced as part of the rebuild like the other dash 9s. It was nice to finally get one of these leading in good light as we chased it around midtown Sacramento. Since the Fresno Sub was shut down, the train and any others following the same route would have to back up the wye at Haggin Junction another mile or two down the track to take the paralleling Sacramento Subdivision.
