Whidbey Island Coast and the Olympic Mountains
Sunsets along Whidbey Islands West coast are special. The West coast is exposed to the full energy of waves crashing down the Strait of Juan de Fuca which have cut high bluffs in the glacial drift that forms most of the island.
This is further north on the coast from the driftwood scene at Fort Ebey State Park but an occasional rain forest giant still rests on the beach.
The Olympic Mountains tower above the strait; shoved up by huge tectonic forces concentrated along the Hurricane Ridge fault.
This scene was about a mile from my daughters house. It was tough duty house sitting, taking care of my grand-dog but somebody had to do it...
