Since the first of the rebuilt dc-to-ac SD75i’s began arriving on property last summer finding them leading trains stateside has been a relatively rare occurrence. Finding them leading in good light has proven next to impossible… The drought finally broke today on this crisp and clear March morning. In fact, while 8313 was leading this potash train down Steelton Hill, just a few miles away another SD75iACC was leading an empty limestone train down Proctor Hill. Though unlikely I’d sure like to see some of these units end up in the ore pool, for the time being however limestone service will have to suffice. The next challenge is to get behind the throttle of one of the 8300’s. I’ve had them in consist upon delivery but that’s about it. Reports from those who have run them seem to be largely positive however so that’s a good thing. Better than their GE counterparts, lots of teething issues with those units including a buddy of mine who managed a blown piston not long after delivery…
