On January 28, 1917, after an artillery preparation of more than 2 hours, 4 patrols of the L.I.R. 124 penetrate the French lines. From this operation called "Rumänien", they will bring back 35 prisoners of the 245th Infantry Regiment.
This photo shows a group of 25 of the 35 French prisoners in Soultz. Another view, already published (see comments), presents the other 10 prisoners.
Together, they will parade through the streets of the city.
The comment on the back of the 2 postcards is identical and was written by the same hand.

Le 28 Janvier 1917, après une préparation d'artillerie de plus de 2 heures, 4 patrouilles du L.I.R. 124 pénètrent dans les lignes françaises. De cette opération appelée "Rumänien", elles ramèneront 35 prisonniers du 245ème Régiment d'Infanterie.
