Looking straight up from the base of this magnificent giant, I wanted to convey the feeling of insignificance that only ancient forests can inspire. The light filtering through the canopy creates a quiet dialogue between shadow and texture, revealing the remarkable structure of the trunk and branches.
Converted to black and white to remove the distraction of color, the image emphasizes form, contrast and the timeless character of this extraordinary tree. My intention was not to dramatize reality, but to reveal the silent grandeur already present in the scene.
