I'm about to leave the Lakes after a great trip. A morning storm is seeing us off after some testing warm conditions. The stone hut at the edge of Honister slate mine can fit half a dozen or so people for a night in the mountains. There are wooden sleeping platforms inside and a stove (bring your own wood!).

 

My viewpoint here was from the slate mining waste piles above the stone hut. Haystacks looks on in the background.
