Environmental Protection Agency
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government tasked with environmental protection matters. Established in 1970 by President Richard Nixon and made up of 15 top-level divisions the EPA’s main purpose is to reduce pollution protect human health and the environment and ensure that all Americans are able to enjoy clean water land and air. Its scope of responsibilities includes controlling air and water pollution regulating pesticide usage and researching and developing new technologies to improve the environment. The EPA also sets and enforces air and water quality regulations and conducts research into the ways by which human activities are impacting the health of the planet. The EPA works to provide a safe and healthy environment for all who live and work in the United States.
