Shooting a crappy camera (Photax IV-F)

Just wanted to shoot my “new” old Photax IV-F.

Well, the experience was not very nice. The viewfinder is really tiny and composing is almost impossible while wearing spectacles. It takes away the joy of taking pictures... Moreover, the endresult is not really something to write home about.

This bakelite camera was produced from 1951 till 1961 and gives you eight pictures of 6x9cm on 620 film. It is equipped with a single element (meniscus) lens.

There is a choice of two apertures and two shutterspeeds, although I cannot really hear any difference between 1/25 and 1/100.

The resulting pictures are not very sharp, to say the least.

I sharpened them a bit, something I almost never do with analog photos. And that is with these big 6x9 negatives... !

One good thing; the camera looks good on the shelf :-).

Film used was Kodak Ektar@100.

Developed with Cinestill C41 Color Simplified powder kit.

The colours turned out quite subdued….
