Great Expectations
This building is every bit like the decaying wedding cake famously referenced in Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations," where it symbolized Miss Havisham's unfulfilled dreams and emotional decay after being jilted at the altar. Once an elegant shop in central Galway City, the building is deteriorating after the retirement of the owners a few years ago. To me, this highlights themes of loss and the passage of time, much like the cake in Dickens' classic. (PS: I hated reading that book; it was a real slog to get through.)
