Negativity! It's a big enemy of our life. No? A negative mind will make us good for nothing. It will stop us from doing the things that we love! There are many problems with having a negative mind. So, we should avoid stop these negative thoughts. How? there are many tips to avoid negativity but today I am gonna tell you the 3 simple steps to avoid negativity. This knowledge is from the book think like a monk written by Jay Shetty. I will give some extra tips too which had worked for me.

What is the first thing you see after waking up?It has been proven that 80% of people are checking their phones right after they wake up. This makes you distracted. There will be different kinds of news that make your day very bad. Instead of scrolling the phone try to see a good sight. To make your day positive see a thing that makes you motivate and happy. For example an inspiring quote, good artwork, or a photo of your family. You are wasting your time by checking the phone at first. When you are checking a phone it will give related suggestions and you will waste your whole time on that. So, try to see a motivating picture or something like that.

2. Smell

Jay Shetty had said that smelling a good thing in the morning will make your day productive and good. Smelling a good thing like lavender, eucalyptus, etc.. will create positivity in your mind. Just think about how it will be when you are smelling a good thing when we are going somewhere? You will smile without any thoughts. A simple smile will come to your lips and mind. The same thing is said here. Smelling a good thing will make that day good. It helps you to avoid stress and anxiety too. So, try to smell a good thing right after you wake up.

 

3. Sounds

 

You will get irritated while hearing a bad sound. Your all mood of the day can be gone with this silly thing. You will have a good experience of it if you're staying in a town. You will feel exhausted by hearing the sounds of vehicles and bikes etc...

 

So, you should hear a piece of good music to solve this. Hear music that makes you motivated and which helps you to relax. Just download good music and keep it with you. It's better to not go to the internet for it. So, make your morning positive by hearing a positive thing.

1. Jay Shetty had said a 3 step process for this.

 

This is a very powerful method. It is called SSS.

 

1. Spot- spot the negative thoughts whenever it comes to your mind. You need to validate your thoughts for doing it. Just soot all the thoughts which come to you.

 

2. Stop- stop thinking that negativity. Just say to yourself that you should not think about it and just stop it. For eg: find that when those thoughts are coming to you, find it if it comes in a specific time or space.

 

3. Swap- if you are getting negative thoughts in a specific place as said above then swap that environment and do a productive thing and make yourself positive. You should replace that negative environment with a positive thing.

 

So, if you are following these steps then you can avoid negativity and can be more positive.

 

The bonus tips are not finished, here are some tips which helped me to avoid my negativity.

1. Start a new thing or habit

 

Starting a new good thing and habit will make you more positive. You can start a thing which gives you many benefits. Choose that according to your wish and do not copy others' plans. Make a goal ( short or long term) that helps to engage in it. Don't wait for a time just make the goal according to your dreams and plan or then start doing it.

 

2. Make yourself busy in that work

 

If you are busy with some works then you will not have time to think about other things. You will have only thoughts on the new thing you are starting. Find time for everything except thinking and talking negative. This will help you and I assure you the best results. Remember to choose a new and good thing. .

 

3. Affirmation

 

Tell yourself good things repeatedly and also repeat that I will not think and say negative. You can do affirmations for your success and to avoid negativity. Repeat whatever you want several times and you will get the results. Take some time to do this. If you're doing this for some days then you will become automatically positive. Remember to say: I am positive, I will not think negatively and I am confident.

 

4. Visualization

 

Visualize good and positive things. You can visualize that you had won in the goal you had set before. Visualize that all your dreams are coming true. This will truly work for you and It had worked on me too. So, do these for things and make your life positive.
