Quirigua National Park has a large rectangular plain with the stelae scattered around them, covered by neat little thatched roofs (that are meant to be hurricane-proof, incidentally). On the far side of the plain are stone steps up and then down into an ampitheatre. Here, there are no pyramids. The whole thing is in a small patch of jungle in the middle of a large commercial banana plantation. Guatemala.
