Squadron Commander Lieutenant Ilpo Armas Tuominen (1916-1944) reading Ilmailu magazine. There is also the 1943 Christmas issue of Ilmailu magazine, a bottle of Akvila's ink pen ink and other necessities on the table. On the corner of the table there is a scale model of the Dornier Do 17 Z plane with the registration number DN-58. It was in the mission of such Dornier about 5 months later that Ilpo Tuominen was killed in action.
At that time, on June 11, 1944, Dornier DN-54, piloted by Captain Tuominen, had been the target of enemy air defenses on a bombing flight in the direction of Kivennapa – Mainila. The plane was hit, caught fire and crashed into the Pöllikkälä area. Tuominen's body was left on the field.
