North Point Theater
When I was in high school, the North Point was either the largest or 2nd largest (after the Coronet) movie theater in San Franicisco. I saw my 1st R-rated film (Alien-- played for 17 weeks starting 5.25.1979) here, and also caught Apocalypse Now (12 weeks starting 09.21.1979) and Empire Strikes Back (played for 28 weeks starting 05.21.1980) here. This was back when everything was 70mm/Dolby. The good ol' days WERE good!
Not only a place that showed movies, the North Point has been IN the movies. The building's exterior is seen in Zodiac when a character catches a viewing of Dirty Harry.
