Part 1 Narrow DoF
In order to verify the formula DOF = 2CNU^2/f^2 I used a 20mm lens of a Sony a6000 camera which has a circle of confusion of .022 mm. The picture was shot 270 mm away from the ruler using an initial F stop of 4. When plugged it into the equation I get DOF = 2*.022*4*270^2/20=32mm. But because the ruler is on a slope you have to multiply it by sqrt(2) to get the value on the ruler, which is 4.5cm. From this image you can see the markings 14 and 19cm, a difference of 5cm, which is very close to the predicted value.
