Pixel Art
I use Pixel Art to allow my students to incorporate art within mathematics. My 4th grader students create an image on graph paper (as seen above). Then, they find the area and perimeter of the image. Additionally, I might have them represent the number of squares on their paper that are shaded in as both a fraction and decimal. This gets my students excited about math topics that are sometimes challenging.
