This is a box of pastries present at a meeting for an organization I am a part of. There are a few donuts, but mostly a Mexican sweet bread called ‘pan dulce.’ It is considered to be one of Mexico’s cheapest treats, and is eaten often for breakfast (or whenever one would like). There are many different types of pan dulce, but conchas are one of the most popular. Conchas are the ones whose design resembles that of a conch shell - which is how it gets its name. This photo captures latinx culture at UT because a UT organization chose to use a popular Mexican treat to feed students present at a meeting.
