Mere metres from our caravan is this view……
We actually don’t need to go anywhere else tbh as it is such a beautiful place. The dunes here are called Towans and the names of every couple of miles changes. These are Gwithian Towans but just down the road ( as the hilly Towans undulate ) are my favourite Towans Upton Towans which cliffs along the edge are higher and the climb down to the beach a little more difficult. Horses graze there now too so it means keeping our dogs on a lead ( naturally) but the whole of the area is beautiful and I personally have been coming to the same campsite for about 35 years I believe with my late husband and laterly with Jonathan. The site owner of Churchtown Farms Caravan and Camping site goes above and beyond when greeting us on arrival and our caravan is taken by tractor and sited for us….we don’t have to do a thing on arrival or leaving apart from putting up and taking down our awning. On leaving the tractor driven by the site manager Anthony is pulled to the gate and hitched up to our car for us…We may or may not get here another year but have to wait and see….needless to say our dogs love it here….Sue :)
Btw contrary to what some advertising says dogs ARE allowed on the beach to the left of the steps at the lifeguard station all year round - just not on Gwithiian and Godrevy beaches till after 6pm during the summer months. Many locals own dogs so got the ban overturned and this way it keeps everyone happy 😊
