Corten steel
Corten steel is a weather-resistant structural steel. Its distinctive feature is that, while it does rust, it does not rust through like ordinary steel. Its special alloy forms an extremely dense barrier layer (patina) that effectively protects the underlying material from further corrosion caused by the elements.
Cortenstahl ist ein wetterfester Baustahl. Das Besondere daran ist, dass er zwar rostet, aber nicht wie gewöhnlicher Stahl durchrostet. Seine spezielle Legierung bildet eine extrem dichte Sperrschicht (Patina), die das Material im Inneren effektiv vor weiterer Korrosion durch Witterungseinflüsse schützt.
