"Parlament der Bäume"
Als Mahnung zu einem friedlichen Miteinander hatte der Natur- und Kunstaktivist Ben Wagin (1930-2021) bereits 1979 in West-Berlin damit begonnen, überall dort, wo die Berliner Mauer die Straße blockierte, Ginko-Bäume zu pflanzen. Unmittelbar nach dem Sturz der Berliner Mauer 1990 entwickelte er das Parlament der Bäume gegen Krieg und Gewalt. Heute ist dies ein ca. 2850 m² großer Gedenkort für die Toten an der Berliner Mauer und ein Mahnmal gegen Krieg und Gewalt inmitten des Berliner Regierungsviertels. Seit Juni 2021 wird das Parlament der Bäume von der Stiftung Berliner Mauer im Sinne Ben Wagins bewahrt und weitergeführt.

As a reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence, the nature and art activist Ben Wagin (1930-2021) began planting ginkgo trees in West Berlin as early as 1979, wherever the Berlin Wall had blocked the road. Immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, he developed the Parliament of Trees against War and Violence. Today, this is a memorial, covering approximately 2,850 square meters, for those who died at the Berlin Wall and a monument against war and violence in the heart of Berlin's government district.
Since June 2021, the Parliament of Trees has been preserved and continued by the Berlin Wall Foundation in the spirit of Ben Wagin.
