Kassel

 

Here, the facade of the documenta hall reflects the Fridericianum Museum, which opened in 1779. From June to September 2025, the palm tree silhouettes of the white and green fabric pennants adorned the city of Kassel. “7000 Palm Trees” was an artistic intervention by Cosima von Bonin to mark the 70th anniversary of documenta (2025). Initiated by the Fridericianum, it was a humorous homage to Joseph Beuys’ “7000 Oaks” (documenta 7/1982).

Residents and institutions were invited to decorate the city to foster community and creativity. All the pennant chains had been distributed to the public within a week. The Fridericianum accompanied the project with workshops, performances, and concerts.

Hier spiegelt sich in der Fassade der documenta-Halle das bereits 1779 eröffnete Museum Fridericianum. Die Palmen-Silhouetten der weiß-grünen Stoffwimpel schmückten von Juni bis September 2025 die Stadt Kassel. „7000 Palmen“ war eine künstlerische Intervention von Cosima von Bonin anlässlich des 70. Jubiläums der documenta (2025), die vom Fridericianum initiiert wurde und eine humorvolle Hommage an Joseph Beuys’ „7000 Eichen“ (documenta 7/1982) war.

Bewohner und Institutionen waren eingeladen, die Stadt zu schmücken, um Gemeinschaft und Kreativität zu fördern. Bereits nach einer Woche waren alle Wimpelketten an die Öffentlichkeit ausgegeben. Das Fridericianum begleitete die Aktion mit Workshops, Performances und Konzerten.
