Carpenters Hall, where the First Continental Congress met in 1774 to protest Britain's closing the port of Boston. A year later there was war between Great Britain and its North American colonies.

Many patriot leaders from 12 British colonies attended, including George Washington, John and Sam Adams, Patrick Henry and Peyton Randolph.
