My objective for this image was to use the rule of thirds and just capture some ducks living their stress free lives. Oh how I wish I could relate to them, but I digress. I used the rule of thirds in order to capture every aspect of the background and foreground as much as possible to create a sense of depth. The ducklings within the foreground can be used to compare the size of themselves and the mama duck in front of the pack. The shadowing of the ducks and posts within the photo also give a form of depth, likewise, so does the lighting that brings out these shadows. The lighting creates and hardened and sharp edge to the neck of the mother and compare the distance between the foreground and background. The texture within the floorboards can also give this illusion of depth as well due to having deep cuts within them that capture shadows inside them. I purposely chose an angle of the image to portray the concept of social perspective; using the most important animal in the front rather than the less important ones in the back. This use of perspective grants the viewer to create or follow the narrative of the image while being able to understand the distance and depth of the ducks inside this image. This image also holds real movement for the fact that all these animals are walking in a path following the mother, it's apparent to the viewer due to the perspective given allows viewers to look at the feet of the ducklings while they seem to be in motion.
