Value: The top of the photo is dark, where the cats are there are shadows but the photo begins to lighten up, the bottom where the lights are it is vey bright.

Contrast: The light that the Christmas lights portray creates a very dark background.

My ISO was adjusted to a higher setting so you could see the cats and the effect of the lights.

I decided o put this photo in black and white, I dropped the highlights so the lights were not taking up the whole picture, and I slightly boosted the clarity so the cats stood out a little more.

I enjoy this picture because I love black and white photographs. I also enjoy he contrast from top to bottom through this picture.
