Close-up of a 2 Centuries Old Leviathan

During our Zanzibar vacation, we took a short day trip to Prison Island, or Changuu Island. This island is known for it's pristine beaches and Giant Aldabra Tortoises, which came as a gift of just 5 from Seychelles but now have multiplied over the years to more than two hundred. I took a close-up shot of this big boy, the oldest of the bunch, at a staggering 198 years and counting. Imagine the historic times this gargantuan beast has lived through! And yet we could touch the gentle giant and massage its long neck, and it would gently raise it's neck in delight (we hope!!). We also tried feeding our big boy some leaves (Aldabra Tortoises are vegetarian), but perhaps he wasn't hungry.
