1921, Thomas Ring, Giant Child -- Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Nuremberg)
From the museum label: Thomas Ring, born in Nuremberg, met writer and art critic Herwarth Walden while studying art in Berlin. Ring was soon part of the inner circle of Walden's Sturm Gallery. His work was also strongly influenced by Kazimir Malevich's theories of art. Through his use of 'line and counter-line' Ring's compositions seek to visualize the unity and oppositeness inherent in the world organism imagined as a dialogue.
