Galerie Métallique des Grands Hommes Français: Antoine Arnauld
Antoine Arnauld (6 February 1612 – 8 August 1694) was a French Roman Catholic theologian, philosopher and mathematician. He was one of the leading intellectuals of the Jansenist group of Port-Royal and had a very thorough knowledge of patristics. Contemporaries called him le Grand to distinguish him from his father.

I was shopping for bank medallions recently when eBay recommended one of these bronze medallions. I was quite intrigued by the high-relief, highly-sculpted busts of historic French figures and ended up buying six. One of which is the "Médaillier Français Célèbres XIX siècle" series and the rest are the "Galerie Métallique des Grands Hommes Français" series.
The medallions appear to date from the mid-1810s to the early 1820s.
To my surprise, the two lady medallions are slightly cheaper than the gentlemen, even though they seem rarer.
