Mini GO Waving to Papa GO
I'm pretty weird... I don't know if I should be embarrassed about this, but I took mother downtown the other weekend to the Toronto Railway Museum to ride on the miniature train.
Several years ago, I went down there one weekend and made some photos of the miniature steam locomotive. When I got home and showed mother the pictures, she asked me if I took a ride. "No," I said, thinking that the train ride was for children. But then I joked that perhaps we should go for a ride one day.
(Mother had a tough childhood and started working when she was only 10 or so. She hardly ever had playtime like a normal child. Well, now that she is retired, I think it's time that she enjoys life and does the thing that she missed doing as a kid!)
Well, fast forward a couple of years, I decided that there is no better time to do it than now!
Alas, the Toronto Railway Historical Association was running a mini diesel GO Train this time, not a steam loco. Luckily my mom would not know any better!
We had a good laugh being the gray-haired middle-aged man and a grandma on the train. But what the heck, I'm old and starting not to care what people think of me!
