The Super C was a difficult train to chase even when the train was going upgrade. In 1972 the normal 17 cars train was almost always power by three F45s or FP45s. At Christmas when the Super C would more that fifty cars with Christmas mail the train was powered by five F45s or FP45s and the train still was very fast. If you photographed the eastbound Super C at Highway 138 and then followed 138 up to Summit the Super C would get to Summit first.
