slow and faltering step

occasionally teetering to the side

knuckles dripping blood

 

his eyes shone like white noise

after the last strains of

the National Anthem

had faded

from

this concludes our broadcast day

 

staggering under the weight of his

bulging black garbage bag

he beelined out into speeding traffic

and was gone from sight

 

King Sisyphus

heralded by the sweet serenade

of angry car horns.

 

at some point it begs the question—

how heavy is a bag of sadness?
