Pumpkins, Jones Family Farms, Shelton, Connecticut

There's nothing more fun than spending a Sunday afternoon walking around in pumpkin fields in New England in October. I shot these pumpkins on the Jones Family Farm in Shelton, Connecticut; the farm has been in the same family since the 1850's. I was shooting toward the end of the day and really liked the glow of the bright, but very warm afternoon sun. I used a slightly wide focal length (44mm in 35 equivalent) and was able to keep everything in fairly sharp focus at a middle aperture of f/9. There's a lot more about f/stop in my Lens Aperture Primer on my site. Be sure to check out my Photo Tip of the Day blog, too. Copyright 2008 Jeff Wignall.
