Cory Aquino will be buried* today, Wednesday, August 5, 2009. The funeral procession is not even half-way to the Manila Memorial Park as of this posting. A requiem mass was celebrated at the Manila Cathedral and the late President was given military honors. About some minutes past 11 am, Philippine time, the coffin was placed in a flower bedecked truck to begin the funeral cortege (procession). Six lane highways became one lane. People crowded the streets. Indeed Cory Magic is still with the people even in death. They shouted Cory! Cory! Cory!
* From the start of the mass at 9 am to the final minutes of the burial, the entire proceedings lasted almost 12 hours up to 8:30 pm.
The poem "I Have Fallen in Love (With the Same Woman Three Times)" was composed by her husband, the assassinated Benigno S. Aquino when the family was still in Boston, Mass., USA.. It was adapted to music by Jose Mari Chan, a famous Filipino composer and singer.
