Crowhurst II:
> Ominous especially as backdrop is blurred with translucent white gouache highlighting shape of tree - ghostly visible
> Emotive rather than theoretical connotations
> Sense of loss
Paradise 13:
> Viewer gets lost in forest due to detail and lack of focus
> Feeling of helplessness - branches and leaves create dense texture preventing us seeing horizon and depth of landscape
> Lack of hierarchy
> Presents kind of silence that can be listened to for a long time
> Captures presence of the unconscious in the visible
Breathing Yellow:
> First encounter: I ended up mentally inhabiting the space as I'm drawn to the water, air and yellow inside
> Human interest element in the scene - human residue that suggests someone has been in the space
> Intention of ensuring viewer is looking at a landscape, 'a cultural human space' and not an untouched bit of nature
> Encapsulates dystopian reality - dusty yellow recreates misty/ foggy natural phenomenon but appears artificial and unsafe
