Rolls-Royce Corniche once owned by James May
This stunning Rolls-Royce Corniche (chassis number CRH 12347) registered DBD 999K in March 1972 was once owned by motoring journalist and former Top Gear presenter James May since 2007. James in his own words had fallen in love with the Corniche in 1988, and always wanted to own one. James sold this Corniche through Bonhams fetching an eye watering £41,400.
All the coupe and drophead versions of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series were hand built in London by the Rolls-Royce bespoke coachbuilder subsidiary H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward. Each coupe took 20 weeks to build, the drophead versions took slightly longer to build. There was a small plaque on the fascia displaying the H.J. Mulliner and Park Ward names, along with treadplates. In 1971, the name Corniche was introduced.
