Withcote Chapel, Withcote, Oakham, Leicestershire
Managed now by The Church Conservation Trust this chapel adjacent to Withcote Hall is a great place to visit.
The following is taken from The Church Conservation Trust website :-
Small, towerless, embattled, pinnacled and delightfully situated, this chapel is well worth finding. It stands beside the 18th century hall in charming wooded country. Outside, little has changed since it was built shortly after 1500. Inside (thanks to a remodelling c.1744) we may enjoy an 18th century period-piece, its seating arranged like a college chapel and its Classical reredos flanked by two elegant monuments. The beautiful stained glass, said to be by Henry VIII’s own glazier, adorns the windows. The glass dates from c.15367 but was moved to this church at a later date.
