St Madoc's Church, Llanbadoc, Usk 29 July 2013

St Madoc's was dedicated to the 5th Century St Madoc. The tower is original, but the main church was restored in 1877. In front of the porch, a set of overgrown steps which now have a yew tree growing out of them is the base of an ancient preaching cross. The Victorian scientist, Alfred Russell Wallace, co-founder with Darwin of the Theory of Evolution, was baptised in the church.
