DURO HUNCOAT BRICK
A brick from one of the Accrington brick works, The Huncoat Plastic Brick & Terracotta Company, which was founded in 1894, in Yorkshire Street. It also used the trade name of "REDAC". The works finally closed down in 1992, and the site was developed for housing in 2004.
This example, with other Accrington bricks, including the famous NORI, and local bricks, is at a house on Woodlands Road, Cwmbran, which is being gutted and renovated. The house was built between 1901 and 1920 when Woodlands Road was marked on OS maps as "Black Road".
