ACCRINGTON
A brick from one of the Accrington brick works, possibly Accrington NORI/IRON. (NORI is said to be an anagram of "IRON" due to "IRON" being painted vertically on its works chimneys with the "N" at the top, but several stories exist about its origin). This example, with other Accrington bricks, including Duro Huncoat, and local bricks, is at a house on Woodlands Road which is being gutted and renovated. The house was built between 1901 and 1920 when Woodlands Road was marked on OS maps as "Black Road".
