The good old days! Extract from an MOD produced "propaganda" booklet about BAOR. This page shows the BAOR locations - very few of them left now! Some interesting facts and figures from the booklet:
Standing (Peacetime) Strength of BAOR - 55,000 military (plus another 5,000 elsewhere in Europe, 24,000 civilian component, 76,000 dependants);
Annual cost (1983): 3760 million DM.
Note, at this time, RAF (Germany) was still separate from BAOR. Several years after the publication of this booklet, they merged to form British Forces Germany (BFG).
