This song represents a part of my history - long ago - when I was all about "stickin' it to the man" - and rebels like Neil Young were cool.. But it didn't take me too long to figure out that a fella's gotta eat, and that being a rebel - just to be a rebel - really wasn't all that cool.. Seems to me that Neil never figured that out. And he lost me when he wrote "Southern Man" - in which he accuses the entire South of being racist and whacked-out religious zealots.. In between, he wrote and performed some of my all-time favorite songs - songs that appealed to the emo angst in my teenage soul. Nevermind the lyrics, lamenting what he'd done to his 'baby'.. There was something in the music that I liked, and still do..
