All the little ripples in the water are frightened little minnows taking cover as this blue heron (?) takes flight over them.. A terrible sight it must be for them, as their greatest enemy suddenly appears in the sky.. I'm not exactly sure this is a heron - it's beak seems a little less sharp than the pictures I've seen of them, and he doesn't have the frilly plumage of the Great Blue Heron. In fact, he reminds me of those puppets they use to feed baby condor chicks.. Whatever he is, I love the wings on him... Such a graceful flyer...
