Who remembers our parents saying that to us, in so many words. But our parents almost always had our true best interests at heart, and the phrase had more to do with their own shortfalls and their hopes for us.
When politicians tell us the same thing, the motives are not so pure. Or benign..
Like when Bernie (BS) Sanders tells us he wants "Medicare for all", but he's not including himself or his fellow Members of Congress. Just like ObamaCare, they will be exempt, and continue to have access to their own private doctors and hospitals. They are never, ever going to vote themselves into the same pool as the rest of us.
His mantra *should* be - "Medicare for all of YOU!". Free Medicare, of course. But as he was forced to half-admit in the Fox News Townhall, it's only "free" at the point where you USE it. It's not "free" as they take the premiums from you through your paycheck.
BUT! It's "free" in his addled, nonsensical Socialist mind, because you won't be paying premiums to a private insurer. So, it's like it's free.. Because it's money you would have paid anyway.. Get it, dummy?
What it's really like, is taking the money you would have spent on a jet ski, sifting it through the system, cutting it by half, and ending up sitting at gate of the public pool, waiting for your number to be called so you can wedge yourself into the water. But it's free!
