Stockholm Syndrome

This photo symbolizes our mindset when we see ourselves in the mirror. We are essentially covering ourselves in plastic when we do our makeup each morning. Not just physically but psychologically. We create a plastic persona that covers our flaws and showcases the image we wish for the public to see. The title and the way the plastic covers the models face is representative of the way we were pushed into this way of thinking. Nobody starts their life concerned with their appearance but slowly we become aware of the way we are perceived. We are kidnapped into a certain way of thinking and become defined by the definitions of beauty presented to us. As children are pressured into looking and acting a certain way they lose their reluctance and start to find comfort in the complements they receive. We become complacent in our ways of life. Consumerism is intertwined in our DNA to the point where happiness cannot be sustained without the newest trend in our hands. We kill our planet to protect our appearance. No matter how many times we are told it is wrong we defend our captor, because it is all we know.
