Collared Aracari

This smaller member of the toucan family lives from southern Mexico through Central America and along the Pacific edge of Columbia and Ecuador.

 

This was definitely one of my major target birds for Honduras. I encountered them only a few times, but they gave me several shots I liked. This bird was with its partner as they had a nesting cavity with young in a tree just to the left of the image.

 

And he is perched in a bamboo tree. Let me know if any of you recognize the kind of bamboo or can tell me anything about that plant.
