Chestnut-collared Longspur

Another grassland bird from upper Montana. This is the more common of the two species of longspur in this area. A small bird, yet one that is very visually striking. This bird is a resident of the prairies during breeding season. In winter, it migrates to South Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico.
