53 years later, in 2025, this airframe was still active as AVIONS-1001 with the South Sudan Air Force and is reportedly the oldest active Boeing 727 in the world (source: skystef.be).

 

Note: D-ABIA (2) was Boeing 737-530 c/n 24815/1933 flying for Lufthansa between December 1990 and December 2014 (preserved with Lufthansa Technik Training at Hamburg).

Delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABIA on 31 March 1967. To ATASCO as OO-TJN then reregistered as 4X-AGJ in 1979. To Transjet as OO-ATJ in 1980 then to Jet East as N727JE in 1984. To DHL Worldwide Courier in 1987. Reregistered as N701DH in 1990. To Cosmos Air Cargo as HK-4407 in 2006, Air Linkers LLC as N727NA in 2014, Lyca Cargo as TY-FSJ in 2015, Air Charter Unit as 5Y-CIG in 2018 and Waypoint Airways as EY-724 by 2020. Damaged when it ran off the runway landing at Kigali in 2020.

 

According to scramble.nl, the airframe went on to Kavatsi Airline Logistic as 9S-AKL in April 2023 and then to the South Sudan Air Force as AVIONS-1001 in 2024.
