5B-DAY (c/n 19622 l/n 660 series -338C) was delivered to Qantas in January 1968 as VH-EAB. In December 1977 the plane was sold to ITEL for immediate leasig to Young Cargo as OO-YCL. Returned to the lessor in May 1979, the plane was then leased in July to Air Niugini as P2-ANA. It remained with Air Niugini until April 1984 when it was sold to TRATCO Leasing and sent in July to Air Artic as TF-AEC. In August 1985 it was sub-leased to Surinam Airways and then in December sub-leased to Air Maldives. In February 1986 the aircraft went to ZAS Airlines of Egypt as SU-DAE and remained in Egypt until July 1988 when it was sold to Nile Safaris Corp as ST-ALL. In May 1990 the plane was sold to Avistar as 5B-DAY and sold in May 1995 to US Air Force to be modified as E-8 in the Joint Stars program (92-3289).
The US Air Force retired 92-3289 on 11 February 2022:
