Dan-Air BAC One-Elevens were regulars at Riem.
G-AXCP would become the next to last BAC One-Eleven to fly, as the N162W electronic testbed with Northrop Grumman. It was grounded in November 2017 and withdrawn from service on 10 March 2018., It was broken up in October 2019 together with N164W, the other long-term survivor and the last BAC One-Eleven to fly. Delivered new to American Airlines in Nov-66 as N5401, it was sold to Dan-Air Services in Mar-69 as G-AXCP. It was wet-leased to British Midland Airways briefly between Oct-82 & Jan-83. It was sold to British Aerospace in Oct-86. Two months later, in Dec-86, it was sold to Florida Express as N173FE. A year later, in Dec-87, it was sold to A J Walter Aviation Ltd and immediately sold on to the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. It was re-registered N162W in Aug-89. At the age of 30 it was sold to Northrop Grumman in Mar-93. As of Jul-15, and now almost 50 years old this aircraft was in service with Northrop Grumman as an electronics testbed until November 2017.
